IAP Application Process


Step 1

Obtain CACB certification for your professional degree in architecture. Certification is issued automatically if you have graduated from an accredited professional degree program in Canada. Click here to see a list of accredited programs.

Provisional CACB certificates are also accepted for application to the Internship in Architecture program. Once you have fulfilled the requirements set by the CACB to obtain your final CACB certificate you will be required to submit this to the AIBC.


Step 2:

Select a mentor. If you have difficulty finding a mentor, a list of volunteer mentors are available through the AIBC Admissions Coordinator.


Step 3:

Submit a completed application package, ensuring that it includes the following:


2019 IAP Application Fees

When submitting your IAP application, the fees consist of the initial application fee ($59 + GST) and the pro-rated annual fee, which is dependent on when your application is submitted. The fee amounts below includes the application fee, pro-rated annual fee for each quarter and taxes.

  • 1st Quarter (January 1 – March 31): $312.90
  • 2nd Quarter (April 1 – June 30): $250.16
  • 3rd Quarter (July 1 – September 30): $187.43
  • 4th Quarter (October 1 – December 31): $124.69
